Week 3

Posted by mkellym on April 6, 2008

Well after a forced week of no training due to work commitments, I finally got things back on track this week.  Tuesday I did an 11k run in an hour and a quarter.  Just felt really good to be back training. Wednesday was a little disappointing in training.  I got to the pool at 7 and had intended on doing a 4k set.  My shoulders have been sore for the last few days, so ended up only doing 1.2k.  Thursday I am feeling a lot more motivated.  Did the same run as Tuesday again, this time without the wind my heart rate was much steadier, though did the run in just about the same time.  Friday I had arranged to meet Flipper for a swim before work. The alarm went off at 5:15.  We were standing outside the gym waiting for the doors to open.  We did a 4k swim.  Friday evening one of the guys I worked with who is based in Leeds had come over for the weekend.  I met him for a drink.  It is times like this that I find the training hardest.  I would have loved to stay out and have a few drinks.  Hopefully the next time he is over I will be able to stay out.  Saturday I went for a cycle with Derek, the plan was to do a 5 hour cycle working in the big ring on the bike in order to work on our speed and strength.  We cycled easily for first 60k,   The next 60k from Laragh, through Roundwood and then in to Enniskerry and home the wind was against us all the way!!  I had taken the Beast ( my race bike) out for it’s first real spin this year.  It felt great.  If we can get a few days without wind, we will get a real idea of how our fitness really is.  But IT WILL STAND TO US!!! ( Derek I told you I would have to say it here)  Sunday, as always I usually train in the morning at the weekend, and anything that throws that out is a disaster. I had to drop my parents to the airport.  After dropping them off, I was meant to do a 20k run.  Made it out to the park, and the hailstones started to fall!!,  I was freezing, so decided, that not getting sick and being able to train next week was the best. So I wimped out and headed for home!!  I  need to do the long run tomorrow to make up for it.  I keep telling myself I can’t underestimate the marathon, but it is still the one that seems to be the one that gets missed most often!!

Am i first ? Am i am I really …. what an honour.

Big man – you have a load of writing here for me to get through – which reminds me i have to get back to FLipper’s own one as well soon.

Well done – you’re up and running. I’ll park the full read until tomorrow – bed awaits here soon enough.

1 – to read more … when you’re actually writing your post, you have a bunch of icons that you can use …reading from the left .. Bold ; Italic ; Striketrhrough and so on …; well the 13th one across = “MORE” is the one you want to break up the page, and just keep the initial part visible from the main page.

2 – Links … okay – first type in all the various text that you want ; then shift from the VISUAL option into the HTML version. So at this stage you’re editting the computer instructions. You shouldn’t need to do much here .. geenrally keep out of it unless you know what you want to try /do . Anyhow go to the text that you want to have a link from … for example on my posting called “Back on the road…” .. you’ll see the link for MANFLU. So within the HTML page, select the text for MANFLU and then hit the LINK option .. usually copy and the paste the link you want – hit save and off you go.

So tomorrow over a cup of tea. i’ll read your opus!
